The Christmas dinner was perfect. Pictures uploaded on my FB account. But after that comes...
Woke up very late on a lousy morning with a handful of guest who were merely godchildren of my parents that immediately disappear right after they got their Christmas presents. Oh kids. By the way they live just around the neighborhood. I miss my cousins terribly because Christmas was a lot more alive for me during my childhood years because our relatives (a lot of them on my dad's side) pay a visit on Christmas day, so I get the chance to bond with most of my cousins then. But when dad was gone, one by one they disappeared too.
But embracing Christianity changed the meaning of Christmas with me. My mindset on the past was that Christmas sucks if without a decoration, a gift, a visiting relative and of course good foods! But this time it was a lot more different. This time its more of having the spirit of it everyday in anyway. Well you know that one day we're all gonna leave everything on earth, right? And then we will meet God in Heaven. He won't ask you something like this "Juan, what did you do on Christmas?". Of course not.
God is the God of details and He knows well what you do in your everyday life. He doesn't look at a certain point, He looks at every single point of what you do. It is important that you make Christmas spirit always alive and that you have the right focus, the right reference point which can only found in Jesus as the genuine reason of the season. Below are the right aspects on how Christmas should be treated in our hearts and minds:
1. EXPRESSION OF LOVE
Who can give up his own son for the sake of unworthy people? NO ONE HAS DID IT ALONE BUT GOD. IT WASN'T EASY FOR HIM, BUT HE DID IT SO THAT WE MAY KNOW WHAT IS LOVE. That Someone who establishes a law in His Kingdom will be air enough to give up His son because according to His law, blood is the only way for FORGIVENESS of sins. Love is not something that you are comfortable tyo give but love happens when you give and yet you are no longer comfortable.
2. FULFILLED HOPE
Jesus' death, was a fulfilled hope. Jesus' sufferings on the cross was to set an example that no matter how painful a situation will be, we must learn to endure the pain. That since He is capable, we are capable as well.
3. OPPORTUNITY TO CHANGE
Jesus came to bring a change to our lives. He saved us from the powers o hell. This season, the challenge is that if you believe in Christ and you say that you have accepted Him in your life, then you too have the authority to make a change and bring a change. Seek out the unpleasant attitudes and childish ways and change anything in you that causes you trouble. Remember this: IF I CHANGE, EVERYTHING CHANGES. So the truth is that the change is up to you
4. ACCEPTANCE
Ps.Claudia Castellanos word on acceptance:
"We need to accept the gift of Jesus. Generally, when a person offers a gift, he extends his hand to give the gift and the person receiving the gift can either grant an expression of gratitude to the other person or can simply take the gift, leaving it unwrapped and forgetting about it. However, what usually happens is that the person that receives the present opens it instantaneously, longing to see what the package has to offer them. Jesus can be this closed package, and you can say: "I have Jesus in my heart, and it doesn't matter to me what He can give me, offer me or what I can get from Him." We shouldn't be like that. Instead, we should tell Jesus: "I receive Your life, but I also receive the benefits You have for me." This is when we begin to study the Word of God, and, as we read it, the treasures of God are opened for us, allowing us to understand the great truths God has for our life. My whole life was transformed when I began to discover the treasures the Bible holds."
The spirit of Christmas shouldn't sleep nor die after December. Let it be alive, yet silent but progressively working. :)
